EAA Chapter 272 Young Eagles Day and OSH Workparty '03 009

Chapter 272 is an independent organization affliated with the Experimental Aircraft Association (EAA) located in Oshkosh Wisconsin.  EAA has the purpose and mission of promoting sport and general aviation through experimenting, discussing and sharing our own experiences.

EAA272 was chartered in 1966, and since then, we have been promoting general aviation in the Western Lake Superior region.  We serve the cities of Duluth, Minnesota and Superior, Wisconsin.  We provide educational opportunities to the youth of our community through our college scholarship programs, develop youth leadership skills by sponsoring participation in EAA’s Air Academy and the SMT program.  We promote aviation safety through participation in safety seminars and the EAA Flight Advisor and EAA Technical Advisor programs.

Our mission is to:

We annually enjoy a chapter picnic in the summer, and have an annual Holiday party. We participate in the Tree of Hope program for hospitialized children during the holidays.  We sponsor an annual poker run, Young Eagle Rallies, Flying Start Seminars, and sponsor several fund raising breakfasts and cookouts during the year.

We have a new chapter hangar (dedicated in March, 2005)  located at the Richard I. Bong Superior Municipal Airport.  The chapter hangar is available to chapter members for maintenance, project  building, and for meetings and educational functions.

Our chapter encourages anyone interested in sport aviation to join us.  Our monthly meetings are usually held on the third Friday of every month, unless we have a conflict with other chapter functions.

Becoming a chapter member is easy,  all you have to do is download and print a copy of our membership application and either mail it to our chapter PO Box, or better yet, bring it to the next chapter meeting.  Our annual dues are just $25.

Thanks to the hard work of a number of chapter members, the B17 visit was a tremendous success.  According to the tour director, the visit was the best stop they have had since Denver earlier this spring.
